qualitative & quantitative session strands

The summit is designed to support early career researchers and doctoral students interested in answering research questions related to arts education, arts education interventions, and arts-based educational program evaluation. Participants will choose from a Qualitative Strand or a Quantitative Strand of interactive workshops and plenary sessions. Participants in both strands will learn or “brush up” on the latest rigorous research methods. Qualitative topics include interviewing strategies, data generation, coding and analysis, and more. Quantitative strategies include research design, intervention design, survey methods, data analysis, and more. Facilitators will be available for optional 1:1 mentoring/advice sessions.

advance your current research-in-progress or generate new ideas

Make your workshops immediately practical by bringing your own research-in-progress at any stage from initiation to data analysis. Don’t have a project ready yet? No problem - use sample data provided by the workshop facilitators.

registration fee

Registration is $100. The cost includes access to all sessions on your chosen strand. Also included are a daily light breakfast and a boxed lunch.

financial support available

One aim of the summit is to support under-represented early career and graduate researchers. Thanks to funding from the University of Maryland’s Arts for All Initiative, we invite anyone identifying as underrepresented in the field to apply for travel and registration support on the registration form.
