Lab Directors
KENNETH ELPUS, PH.D.
Dr. Elpus is Professor of Music Education at the University of Maryland and principal investigator for the MADLab. He earned his Ph.D. and master’s degree in music education at Northwestern University and his bachelor’s degree at The College of New Jersey.
STEPHANIE PRICHARD, PH.D.
Dr. Prichard is Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Maryland and co-principal investigator for the MADLab. She earned her Ph.D. in music education from the University of Colorado at Boulder, her master’s degree in music education at Northwestern University, and her bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland.

Julianne is a doctoral candidate in educational psychology.

Eric is a doctoral candidate in educational psychology.
Lab Alumni
Allison Durbin, Ph.D.
Allison graduated from the lab in May, 2023. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Music Education and the director of the Terrapin Community Music School at the University of Maryland.
Bri’Ann Wright, Ph.D.
Bri’Ann graduated from the lab in May, 2023. Currently on the music education faculty of the University of Maryland–Baltimore County, Dr. Wright joins the music education department of California State University–Fullerton in Fall, 2024.
Christian Folk, Ph.D.
Christian Folk earned his Ph.D. in music education in 2024, with an additional graduate certificate in museum studies. They are now the Assistant Director, Research Services at the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project.
dAVID s. mILLER Ph.D.
David graduated from the lab in May, 2023. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Kentucky and a member of the Research Branch of the Maryland Longitudinal Data System Center. He remains affiliated with the lab as an Assistant Research Scientist.
